Dear Guest,

 

Departed are the January and February Dark Ages.  Spring paces impatiently.  Excited by earlier sunrises and longer days, I can’t wait for the first blush of light green on the trees!

 

On Wednesday, February 27th, Paul and I hosted Virginia Attorney General Robert McDonnell as an Inn guest.  He was here to address the annual Eastern Shore Christian Businessmen’s Association prayer breakfast.  The following weekend, we served the critically acclaimed Serafin String quartet performing at The Cokesbury Concert Series.

 

Valentine’s Day, there were so many rave compliments about the Butter Poached Lobster Tail that we kept it on the menu for the next three weeks - it sold out each time!  Be assured that Dennis will be adding other innovative lobster dishes to our menu during the year.

 

This month’s Small Plates Cuisine will be Friday, March 14th, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day (note change from 4th Friday – this month only).  True to Irish tradition, we will feature:

 

Colcannon Soup with Irish Soda Bread

Smoked Salmon and Watercress Salad

Guinness Shepherd’s Pie

 

Corned Beef, Red Cabbage, and Apples

Baked Codfish with Irish Cheese Crust

Apple-Oatmeal Crisp with Irish Whiskey


As you know, Small Plates is by reservation only; please call early as this will certainly sell out.

 

Easter is March 23rd.  Plan to join us that day, 11:30 am – 3 pm, or 5 – 7:30 pm, for Rosemary & Garlic Leg of Lamb, Poached Salmon with Lemon-Dijon Dressing, and Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake.  Reservations are strongly suggested.

 

Regular dining service is in full swing (Saturday dinner 5 - 9 pm, Sunday Brunch & Afternoon Dinner 10:30 am – 1:30 pm, and Sunday Supper 5 - 7:30 pm).  Paul’s new wine list has been well received, as is our Sunday Supper concept. A note about Sunday Supper – it’s a 3-course, $20 offering of selected items from our regular menu suitable for a light supper.  Please call me for more information and reservations.  I look forward to seeing you soon!
